Arbella - Summer Newsletter 2007 - Worship at 9:30 a.m.
7/15 Roberta Altamari
"Favorite Sources" - While it can be valuable to try new things, it can also be worthwhile to take some time to enjoy our favorite sources of inspiration. Roberta will share some of her favorite UU readings, music, and other worshipful resources. And hopefully encourage you to appreciate your own favorites as you continue to explore other sources in search of your future inspirations."
7/22 Kyle Hart
"Slowing Down" - Chronic speed and multitasking diminish our relationships and spiritual well-being. Why are we addicted to hurry? And what can we do to redefine a lifestyle and pace that's right for each of us?
7/29 Carole Berney
"Nature's Restorative Powers: A Participatory Service" - Carole will lead us in an experiential service that includes all of the senses, as we share our feelings of wonder at the natural world. Her images of nature and wildlife--as well as readings from inspirational naturalists--will be the jumping off place for group sharing about our relationship with the world wide web of interconnected beings. Feel free to bring along a memory, artifact, image, or reading to contribute as your comfort level allows. Music will be from the creatures of the deep, the sky, and the earth. Let yourself be surprised.
8/5 Charlyn Bethel
"Theme and Variation" - Theme and Variation is a formal concept in music compositions. As a musician and teacher, I am often organizing my thinking into themes and variations: "What are the important themes of my life? When is it a theme and when is it a variation?" Life is easier to manage when I think of Theme and Variation.
8/12 Wendell Refior
"Messages from Emerson" - Wendell, in full costume, brings Emerson and his thoughts to life - "Trust Thyself."
8/19 Christopher Johnson
"Pilgrimage" - Christians go to Jerusalem and Rome; Muslims go to Mecca; ancient Greeks travelled to Delphi to honor Apollo; and Elvis fans go to Graceland. What does "Pilgrimage" mean to a UU?
8/26 NO SERVICES
9/2 NO SERVICES ~
9/9 WATER SERVICE (first regular service of the church year)
Remember to bring in some water from your summer travels.
